It then has to be sealed every three to five years after that to make sure that it stays in good condition. Concrete doesn’t have to be sealed to last upwards of 50 years, but sealing it can help preserve the finish and prevent staining. Staining is more likely with concrete than asphalt.

Cost

The cost of asphalt is much less than the cost of concrete, at least when you first get your driveway installed. Yet with the added maintenance costs, the two are comparable in price when you consider the lifetime of the driveway.
